The Holy Week saw us going to Jerusalem and remembering Jesus’ last hours, His sufferings and death by walking through the Stations of the Cross or Via Dolorosa. Many participants were the staff of the Philippine Embassy in Israel and their families, as well as our compatriot friends, working in Tel Aviv as caregivers. The Way of the Cross traditionally starts with the priests leading the pilgrims and believers along the Via Dolorosa. The procession actually begins at the Monastery of Flagellation, just near the Lion’s Gate. Some of the participants carried wooden crosses, and as the procession stopped every time a station is reached for the pilgrims to say prayers. Finally we are able to reach the end of the Station at the Church of Holy Sepulcher.
